Yogi Adityanath was born on June 5, 1972, in the Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand. He hails from a Rajput family and is currently serving as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, India’s largest state. He received his early education in Rishikesh and completed his higher education at Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University. Yogi Adityanath obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, completing his graduation in 1992.
In 1990, he renounced his home to participate in the Ayodhya Ram Temple movement. During this movement, he had an encounter with Mahant Vedanath Yogi, the chief priest of the Gorakhnath Math. A meeting also took place between Mahant Avaidyanath and Yogi Adityanath’s father, where it was suggested that Yogi Adityanath could be offered for spiritual education. His father readily agreed to this proposal. Subsequently, Yogi Adityanath announced his departure from his home and in 1993 arrived in Gorakhpur, becoming a disciple of Mahant Avaidyanath.
In 1994, Yogi Adityanath received education from his guru and became his spiritual successor. The Gorakhnath Math runs various schools, colleges, and hospitals, with funds primarily sourced from the Gorakhpur Math itself.
